Assistant Theatre Managers

Full time, permanent, £27,500 pa
Working shifts as required across the week, including evening and weekends
Two posts available; one to start asap; one to start mid-September

We are looking for two experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Theatre Managers to lead our Welcome Team to deliver exceptional customer experiences across all public areas of the venue. These key posts will be responsible for driving behaviour to champion an outstanding welcome to every customer. The roles will assist with both strategic planning and day-to-day management of the front of house – with food and beverage as a key focus. Leading a large, diverse team and working proactively alongside colleagues to bring the sparkle into the building.

What you’ll be doing
• Be the duty manager for the Cornwall Playhouse, taking charge of the emergency evacuation of 1,300 people if required.
• Work with the Theatre Manager to build plans and objectives which drive continuous improvements in sales, standards of service, quality of customer care and relevance of the product.
• Monitor and deliver exceptional standards of cleanliness and presentation across all public areas.
• Act as contact for environmental health/trading standards/fire/police/etc when on duty.
• Ensure all customer complaints, requests and enquiries are handled well and resolved quickly.
• Deliver an excellent and consistent working environment for the whole team.
• Support and mentor the team to encourage personal progression within the well-structured training and development programme.
• Manage costed rotas for team members, ensuring adequate staff levels in line with business requirements. Monitoring and planning for holidays and time off.

Who we’re looking for
• At least 3 years experience as a manager in a similar environment with a proven track record in leading large teams of people.
• A pro-active approach to problem-solving, with excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail.
• A clear communicator – with effective listening, diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
• A natural motivator – passionate about people, with a hands-on approach and ability to influence at the management level.
• Good time management and ability to multitask.
• A role model to others approachable, confident and positive.
• Experience of using analysing and acting on management information to drive business/change & improvements.
• Ideally with: Personal licence holder; NVQ Level 3 hospitality; CIEH Food hygiene/safety; H&S between Levels 1-4
