Widget

If you’d like to see the widget in situ, please click here. You’ll notice that there are two display options: the full widget and the interactive logo. Most businesses choose to add the full widget to their website. However, if you prefer, you can just add the interactive Cornwall 365 logo to your website instead using the instructions below (Option 2). By doing so, the interactive logo will appear on your website so when your customers click on it then they can view the widget in a separate window.

Whether you choose the first or the second option below, adding the widget or the interactive logo to your website is straightforward. If you’re in any doubt, you can ask your web developer to add it for you and it should take them no more than a few minutes to successfully install.

Simply follow the instructions below. If you’d like to enlarge the images, you just need to click on them.

Step 1 – Choose your preferences

Simply select the right preferences for you using the available options. You can select the preferences which are most relevant to you, your business and your customers. For example, you can select relevant event types, or select your nearby town and village to give your customers the most local and relevant events. Or, if there’s a particular venue that you think would be of most interest to your customers, you can also select it on the drop-down menu. If you’d like to add more than one town, village, venue or event type, simply select the relevant options and click ‘Add’ or ‘Remove’ to undo.

Step 2 – Access the widget code

Once you’re happy with the options you have chosen, simply click the ‘Give me the code’ button to access the code. Once you click on this button, you’ll notice that there is some code in the two boxes on the right-hand side of the page. The top box is the code for the full widget and the bottom box is the code for the interactive logo. You just need to copy the code from the top box marked ‘Widget code’ and add it to your website.

Step 3 – Add the widget code to your website

Once you’ve decided which webpage to add the widget to, you just need to log-in to your website editing software (i.e. WordPress, Drupal etc) and simply copy and paste the code provided in Step 2 to whichever webpage you’ve decided to display it on. Some businesses decide to add it to their homepage, but the choice is yours.

Step 4 – View the widget

Once you’ve added the code and saved your webpage, your widget should now appear in situ and your customers will have access to the most up-to-date event listings in Cornwall.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you are using WordPress, it is very important that you select ‘Text’ view before you copy and paste the code to the webpage. If you select ‘Visual’ view and then copy and paste the code, the widget will not appear.

Step 2 – Access the Cornwall 365 logo code

Once you’re happy with the options you have chosen, simply click the ‘Give me the code’ button to access the code. Once you click on this button, you’ll notice that there is some code in the two boxes on the right-hand side of the page. The top box is the code for the full widget and the bottom box is the code for the interactive logo. You just need to copy the code from the bottom box marked ‘Logo code’ and add it to your website.

Step 3 – Add the interactive logo to your website

Once you’ve decided which webpage to add the interactive logo to, you just need to log-in to your website editing software (i.e. WordPress, Drupal etc) and simply copy and paste the code provided in Step 2 to whichever webpage you’ve decided to display it on.

If you decide to opt for the interactive logo, we would recommend that you explain somewhere on your website what the logo is there for so that your customers know that it’s an interactive tool.

Step 4 – View the widget by clicking on the Cornwall 365 logo

Once you’ve added the logo code and saved your webpage, the Cornwall 365 logo will now be visible on your website. If you want to view the widget, simply click on the logo and you’ll see that the widget appears in a separate window.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you are using WordPress, it is very important that you select ‘Text’ view before you copy and paste the code to the webpage. If you select ‘Visual’ view and then copy and paste the code, the widget will not appear.

If you’d like to add this widget to your website, you just need to follow the steps below. Before you get started, you might find these installation tips helpful:

Selecting your preferences

You can select the preferences which are most relevant to you, your business and your customers. For example, you can select your nearby town and village to give your customers the most local and relevant events, or if there’s a particular venue that you think would be of most interest to your customers, you can also select it below. If you’d like to add more than one town, village or venue, simply select the relevant options and click ‘Add event’ or ‘Remove event’ to undo.

What’s the interactive logo and how is it different to the widget?

Most businesses like to display the widget on their website as it appears on this page. However, some businesses prefer to just display an interactive Cornwall 365 logo instead. By installing the interactive logo, customers can click on it to open the widget in a separate browser window. To see a demo of the interactive logo, click on the Cornwall 365 logo on the bottom right-hand of the page.

If you decide to opt for the interactive logo, we would recommend that you explain somewhere on your website what the logo is there for so that your customers know that it’s an interactive tool.

It is entirely your choice how you would like to display the widget. You install both the widget and the interactive logo in the same way, with just one small change (see below).

How to access the code for the widget and the interactive logo

Once you have selected your preferences below, you’ll see the box marked ‘Give me the code’ at the bottom of the page. On the right-hand side of the page you’ll notice there are two boxes. Once you click on ‘Give me the code’, the top box will display the code for the full widget and the bottom will display the code for the interactive logo. If you want to display the widget in full, simply copy and paste the code from the top box and add it to your website. If you want to display the interactive logo, just copy and paste the code from the bottom box and add it to your website.

Please note, the code which currently appears in the boxes on the right-hand side of this page is the default code for the widget and the logo’s default view. This code will change once you select your preferences and click ‘Give me the code’.
