Talk to any one of us that works at the Scarlet or Bedruthan Hotel & Spa and you’ll find that we’re all into Cornish culture in one way or another – be it the surf scene, foodie events, stand-up comedy, local bands or contemporary art.
So when Cornwall 365 offered us the chance to take part in their Cornwall cultural map-making exercise, we knew we’d have a long list of great Cornish cultural happenings to contribute.
Ever since we opened Bedruthan Hotel & Spa back in 1960, we’ve made a point of actively sharing our appreciation of Cornwall’s heritage, history and creativity with our guests, whether it’s sending a family off to see a Rogue Theatre performance in the woods, or recommending a day out on the ocean with Newquay Sea Safari.
It’s always been a natural part of our approach to hospitality.
We know our guests appreciate Cornwall’s outstanding landscapes, great food festivals, fun family attraction and exotic tropical gardens as much as we do.
And it’s been a natural step for us, over the years, to contribute our own events to Cornwall’s rich cultural calendar. The sisters who own the hotels are long-time collectors of Scandinavian & Cornish inspired art and design, which is why we opened our own Create Gallery & Design Store and host Vintage and Contemporary Craft Fairs twice a year. Wowed by the work of Miracle Theatre, we love hosting their performances on Bedruthan’s lawn every summer. We also offer a book club and craft workshops including pottery, screen printing and jewellery making.
And what we’ve found, over the years, is that our natural enthusiasm for promoting Cornwall’s cultural and creative happenings to our guests deepens their bond – not just with Cornwall but with us as hotels.
