We are into the final straits of the school holidays. Some of you will be punching the air and doing a little victory dance whilst others will wonder wistfully where the time and the sunshine have gone. But summer isn’t over until the school bell rings, so get out there and enjoy a bumper Bank Holiday of music, dance, puppetry, theatre and …fish! Yee haw – you can catch the last two nights of Miracle Theatre’s “The Magnificent Three” in the stunning gardens at National Trust Trelissick near Truro. Until Saturday 29th August.

Now in its 43rd year, Cornwall Folk Festival is the annual celebration of Folk and Roots Music and Dance in Wadebridge which brings together national and international performers with local talent in front of Cornish and visiting audiences. 28th – 31st August. A rare opportunity to hear Italian guitarist Andrea Dieci and Cornish lutenist Ben Salfield playing English Renaissance duets for lute and classical guitair at Helston Museum on Saturday 29th August at 7.30 pm. Newlyn Fish Festival has plenty to please fish fans – a vast fish display showcasing the diversity of species landed at Newlyn, mouthwatering cooking demos and the famous fish auction. It is also bursting with cultural happenings dotted around including dance from the Shindig Cloggers, music from the Whippletree Ceilidh Band, Squashbox Theatre’s “Sea Show” in the Fish Tales Tent, Porthmeor Studios Gyotaku print workshops (see images below) and film screenings hosted by Newlyn Picture House.
